IF you are OK with RESOLUTION MAXED OUT AT 3840 x 2160 I recommend downloading the FREE VERSION of DAVINCI RESOLVE for windows, mac os or linux from Blackmagic Design (the author) https://www.blackmagicdesign.com/ opposed to other sites such as Apple iTunes App Store. You can get version 16 (stable) or 17 (beta) in both STUDIO or Regular (FREE) flavors. ** Turn on CC/Subtitles ** Hi, I’m Sal. Are you ready to SING AND LEARN? This music video is about my woes as a DaVinci Resolve FREE NOOB. I hustled to get a high profile gig which I would do at home. How exciting! At the last minute it was embarrassing to explain I couldn’t deal properly with their true cinema DCI 4k but only up to ultra-hd UHD 3840 x 2160 which many folks also call 4k, but it isn’t cinema 4k. D’oh! It will load in the footage but the Timeline resolution is maxed out at 3840×2160 and so is Export for this resolution. So, be warned in advance. Don’t burn as many bridges as I have in life. Bridges 4 life. Anyway, the STUDIO VERSION is worth it for many other reasons if you can afford it at this time.

I wrote a diddy to this silly throwaway video. OR IS IT SILLY? IS IT A DITTY? I wish it was clearly stated that the FREE VERSION of DaVinci Resolve is limited to 3840×2160 UHD — I know others who think they can use DCI 4K (true 4,096 pixels) BRAW with their free version on location and come to a sad realization that are at a deadline AND all of a sudden need to buy the STUDIO version. It’s a feeling that could have been avoided. I recommending just buying it. It’s a great program; the unlimited upgrades are generous and also you may find a speed-editor and application combo both for $295 right now. I am not sure where. I am tempted but also perhaps too used to keys to want anything other than the jog wheels. Could be worth it.
